As for the departed, can anyone blame automakers for cutting their losses when it’s difficult enough to build the vehicles customers actually want? There has perhaps never been a period where the cancellation of a specific vehicle line could be more easily tolerated. So severe is the microchip and general parts shortage that the assembly volumes for these discontinued vehicles was inconsequential.That’s not to say they were all bad cars. In certain instances, they arrived late to a party.
As 2021 comes to a close, it’s time to bid farewell to this group of failed experiments. Why were they axed? How bad did it get before the herd was culled? What could have been done differently?
