The RTE presenter said there was ‘a bit of a worry’ when she decided to extend her time off because broadcasters can be replaced if they are off the air for too long.
Sinead told RSVP Magazine: “To be honest there was a bit of a worry about walking away from a job that I adored for that long. When I am doing my other work like researching and producing, you feel that you can do it, but presenting is different because you worry that an absence of almost a year could be detrimental to your career.
Niamh Kinsella, Trishauna Archer and Rachel Allen also co-hosted with Daithi, while Emer O’Neill filled in for Sinead between September and December of last year. The Cork native also revealed that she actually screen tested for the programme when it started 10 years ago, so to eventually land a role on it was a full circle moment for her.
She also praised her co-host Daithi for being able to click with so many guest presenters because it can be hard to find chemistry and rhythm with so many different people on a live show. “Then it was a great opportunity for Emer from September to December and from what I can tell she did really well and enjoyed it. I don’t know Emer at all, we had a few exchanges on private messages on Instagram and I wished her all the best.”
