U.S. stocks open mostly higher as investor attention remains riveted on Ukraine

U.S. stocks opened mostly higher Friday, as investors continued to monitor events in Ukraine as Russian forces were seen closing in on the capital Kyiv. Equities bounced back from sharp losses Thursday following the launch of the invasion, ending the day with gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.

50% rose 111 points, or 0.3%, Friday morning, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.27% rose 0.2% to 4,295 and the Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.42% edged down 0.1% to 13,460. Ahead of the bell, stock-index futures moved higher after news reports said Moscow expressed its willingness to engage in talks with Ukraine in the Belarussian capital of Minsk.
