The Department of Education says learners will be issued with letters informing parents of the process to be undertaken and a request for them to allow learners who wish to testify, to do so. Black learners at the school embarked on a strike at the school just over a week ago, alleging that they are being called black monkeys and other derogatory names by staff members.
They say they are not allowed to wear their hair in its natural form although it is not expressly forbidden in the school rules.Earlier in March, KwaZulu-Natal Education MEC, Kwazi Mshengu met with the school’s management and the school governing body about the allegations.
