Goldman Sachs oil and gas financing banker Colin Matthews is moving to Sydney to help fund private equity buyouts and sponsor-owned companies as head of leveraged finance for Australia and New Zealand.The New York-based banker, a managing director at the firm, will move to Australia in coming months and assume responsibility for the strategic direction and ongoing growth of its local leveraged finance unit, Goldman Sachs told local staff on Monday.
Matthews co-heads oil and gas coverage within Goldman’s leveraged finance group, and was appointed to as a managing director in 2019.His appointment comes as Pedro Panizo, the most senior leveraged finance banker in Goldman’s local team, is jumping to the buy-side and joining Goldman Sachs Asset Management as its local head of private credit.
