Some companies are looking to relocate employees or allow travel for procedures.

JP Morgan Chase Co. is among one of the employers announcing it will pay for travel for abortion care.Companies across the country are expanding employee benefits after, otherwise known as the “heartbeat bill,” earlier this year. After a draft of a U.S. Supreme Court decision on abortion was made public last month, some companies responded by assuring employees working in Texas and other states with restrictive laws that they would still be able to obtain care.

The decision creates a divided patchwork of benefits for companies operating in several states, leaving corporate America in the middle of the issue. It also affects pharmacy operations because they sell morning after pills, which are considered a type of birth control. “As always, our primary focus is the health and well-being of our employees and their families, and to that end, we will work to support our people’s needs while remaining compliant with state and federal laws as an employer,” Mainz said. “We are not making any immediate changes to our health benefits, but we continuously evaluate the landscape to ensure we are offering benefits to support our people.
