ICYMI: Now preparing to open the first location in Paradise, Anna Paytyan isn’t setting her sights low. “I’d like to see one or two of my bakeries in every major city,” she said with a laugh. “Maybe not every city, but you know what I mean.”

A Raspberry/white chocolate/lemon mousse cake CakeyHand made for a small wedding celebration - ContributedWhen Anna Paytyan was a little girl growing up in Armenia, she enjoyed baking cakes. She had a talent for it, and people like the things they excel at. She made cakes for family and friends, but never thought about selling her creations.

They noticed they weren’t able to find the type of cakes they were used to in their home country and that, combined with her talent at making cakes, made them decide to try selling her cakesSuren Margaryan and Anna Paytyan are soon opening a retail location for their home-based business, CakeyHand. The couple is shown here with their son, Mark, in front of the space they have rented in Paradise.

After trying that for a while, they peddled their wares at the St. John’s Farmers' Market under the name“Our first market we sold out,” Margaryan said. “We didn’t bring too much, to be honest. We weren’t sure how much we could sell, but it was a success, and we were very happy, super excited. Then each time after that we brought incrementally more and each time we sold out.”
