Bishop Ranch's efforts to incorporate residential into the mix precedes the onset of Covid. But in a post-pandemic world, it's more important than ever.

The next stage of Bishop Ranch’s continual evolution? Housing, says Sunset Development.

“It’s certainly been a long process of rethinking Bishop Ranch, but we have always been a customer-oriented company,” he told the crowd. Today, facing an increasingly uncertain suburban office landscape, Sunset is assessing new ways to ensure Bishop Ranch remains relevant and successful — including the creation of those thousands of new homes within its borders. The effort to incorporate residential uses into Bishop Ranch began before the onset of Covid, when the developerSunset believes Bishop Ranch’s future residents— hence the 20-year timeline for thousands of CityWalk homes, which Mehran described as ambitious.

Demand for new residential product in San Ramon and the Tri-Valley at large certainly exists, said Chris Neighbor, president of SummerHill Homes. The San Ramon-based developer is amid work to raise 404 homes on 31 acres at Bishop Ranch. Those units are separate from the CityWalk plan.
