New tech, new battery thinkingbrand that’s also making waves closer to home, has announced a further expansion into Europe. Not satisfied with just Norway, Nio announced at its ‘A new Horizon’ event in Berlin on 7 October 2022 that it would expand into Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden.
But that’s not all, Nio’s coming to the UK, too. A Nio spokesperson said ‘the general manager of Nio UK has been on-boarded. We will enter UK market next year.’ So that’s it then, Nio is coming to the UK in 2023. On top of that, Nio’s spokesperson also confirmed that it would enter the US in 2025. Nio’s Euro-spec range has started with the ES8 SUV and, more recently, the ET7 saloon that claims huge battery range. Nio says those new European markets will open with the ET7 saloon, as well as the EL7 and the ET5 saloon . It’s unconfirmed which models are coming to the UK so far, so we’ll have to stay tuned.
As well as the range of cars entering the market over the next few years, Nio has confirmed it will build 20 Power Swap Stations will be up and running in Europe by the end of 2022, with that number rising to 120 locations in 2023.
