A Crestwood man is working to limit light exposure from a building under construction near 142nd and Pulaski — and has had some initial success.

Residents of the 14200 block of Karlov Avenue have worked with village officials and the contractor to lower the rear lights of the Give2Get building. When the business moves in, the residents hope the lights stay lowered.

Begley invited Crestwood Mayor Kenneth Klein to come to the property, and Klein visited Nov. 7 to see how bright the lights were. Begley said the mayor promised to reach out to the contractor to figure out how to fix the situation, Begley said.“They did have a legitimate concern about how bright it was,” Klein said.

The building for Give2Get at 142nd and Pulaski and the homes in the 14200 block of Karlov Avenue are separated by a small field, so when the rear LED lights come on the backyards of the homes are brightly lit.
