The wave of attempted book banning and restrictions continues to intensify, the American Library Association reported Friday. The contract would begin paying the company about $635,200 in the first year, but would increase during the lifetime of the agreement, according to documents. In a presentation sent to the council, company administrators tout the cost savings, expertise and community control that would come with them overseeing the library. A company official said they also have retained more than 90 percent of original staff during other library takeovers.
