The National Emergency Management Agency says one body was recovered and seven persons were injured in the fire outbreak at a five-storey building in Balogun market, Lagos state.

NAN reports that Ibrahim Farinloye, Lagos territorial coordinator of NEMA, confirmed the casualties on Tuesday.had reported that the fire, which broke out on Tuesday morning, affected the “topmost floor” of the building where traders sell shoes. The Lagos State Fire & Rescue Service said its operatives responded to the emergency and brought the fire under control.The incident was the second market fire in the state in the last few weeks.

Prior to the governorship election, a fire outbreak destroyed some shops at the Akere auto parts market in the Olodi Apapa area of the state.In January, a five-storey building at Gbajumo street, also in Balogun market, was razed by fire.
