BACOLOD CITY: A fire burned down the clinic building and damaged the raw sugar warehouse of Victorias Milling Company (VMC) in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Sunday evening, August 27.

Initial reports indicate that the fire allegedly started at the clinic and spread to the warehouse, destroying the sugar stock inside.Arson investigators are still looking into the cause and cost of the blaze.Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, who went at the scene of the fire on Sunday, and Third District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez thanked the firefighters who immediately responded to the emergency.'The damage is being assessed.

The mayor said the clinic was totally destroyed while the warehouse was about 60 to 70 percent damaged.A statement from the company said the fire at the VMC compound started at 6:40 p.m. and was contained by 8:50 p.m. Sunday.'We would like to thank the fire dispatch units from Chamber and Amity, the LGUs from Cadiz, Manapla, Silay, EB Magalona. Talisay, and our local government officials in Victorias City, led by Mayor Javi Benitez, for their swift response,' the statement said.
