Accounts executive tells court the deceased promised to repay the money but missed the payment deadline four days prior to his death.

Kannadasan Veerasamy, 34, died in a fire at a car workshop in Puchong, Selangor, on Nov 19, 2021.

“In October, we checked and found that the last time the deceased deposited the money was on Sept 27. When prompted, he said he would bank in the outstanding sum, but he didn’t,” she testified. According to Lim, Kannadasan admitted to not banking in the funds once again at a meeting in Phang’s office two days later. She said both she and the company’s human resources manager, a Miss Guan, were present.

Questioned by S Vignesh, who represented the deceased’s family, Lim said the deceased did not disclose to her what he did with the money. She also admitted to not having any statement of accounts to prove the quantum owed.According to Dinesh, Phang’s mobile phone showed that he had received a text message from the deceased admitting to having used the money and requesting a meeting to discuss the matter.
