The Kimberley's last licensed dogger says he is getting daily phone calls from cattle producers losing stock to feral dog packs.

One of Northern WA's last doggers Matthew Cole has trapped 172 dogs across seven properties in the Kimberley and Pilbara in the last six months.The last of Northern WA's small-stock producers in the Gascoyne hoped a proposed 362-kilometreLate last month, nearly $1 million in funding was announced to assist six stations build cell fencing to protect sheep and goat stocks in the south-west of the region.

"It means as small livestock producers we can go forward with confidence knowing that we've got the predation under control," she said. "We are fortunately still in a position where we're viable, so it's a very, very timely announcement."Agriculture and Food Minister Alannah MacTiernan said pastoralists in the West Gascoyne were some of the last remaining sheep producers in WA's rangelands.

The Carnarvon Rangelands Barrier Fence funding follows investment in three other cell fences across the Murchison and Goldfields, as part of the Rangelands Cell Fencing Program, co-funded by the State and Federal governments.
