MONTGOMERY, Ala. - As Montgomery looks for more money to fund projects and initiatives, the City Council’s Commerce and Industry Standing Committee believes they have found an avenue to do just that: increase business license fees.
It’s been a while since the fee structures had been adjusted. In fact, it was mentioned in the meeting that some of the current language addresses telegraphs. According to the committee, depending on the industry, the fee increases range from 5% to 100%. The committee also floated the idea of having a program for new business owners to make sure they understand the city’s expectations and the city understands their expectations.
