Gauteng Finance and Economic Development MEC, Lebogang Maile, says in it is in the interest of the government to make sure that citizens are protected from all health threatening concerns, including the protection of learners.He adds that the Gauteng government is in talks with public health experts to better understand the vastness of the problem.
“It is also critical to protect the lives of South African residents in the face of growing public health concerns emerging from foreign owned enterprises in townships. The illnesses and the deaths of young children in townships is a very serious cause for concern to the Gauteng provincial government.
