Qualcomm said in its release the strong profit was primarily due to its licensing business, which will continue to benefit in the move to 5G.

and entered into a royalty agreement with Huawei over wireless patents and chips. Payments stemming from the settlement and agreement have contributed to its licensing business.

The company said fourth quarter and fiscal 2018 revenue included $100 million and $600 million, respectively, from "an interim agreement with Huawei."
