The success of CVS' two-way messaging app highlights the efforts of pharmacy players to improve health outcomes with digital tools:

Since private insurers like Aetna are up against astronomical specialty drug costs and must contend with the high costs associated with patients' , it makes sense why they'd seek to link consumers with digital tools to ensure they stick to their regimens.

But now, the US' largest PBMs share a roof with the largest insurers: PBMs Express Scripts, OptumRx, and CVS Caremark are all directly linked with Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Aetna, respectively.
