That home office might be here to stay: Workers are flexing their pandemic-era right to flexibility
For the most part of the last year, companies were saying we just have to get through this and it's going to be back to normal. But now this feels endemic. “The truth of the matter is CEOs acknowledge that productivity has gone up. People are working more and it’s more productive. People want that. People want the flexibility to work from home and work in their own way,” said Dave Carvajal, CEO of Dave Partners, a recruiting firm focused on the tech industry.
“This is a big test for middle management,” said Laurie Monteforte, spokesperson for Ladders, a jobs site that focuses on employment with salaries of $100,000 and higher. In conversations with clients, Wang said that many report high turnover among new workers. “Retention rates are very low,” he said, estimating that only about half of his clients’ pandemic-era hires were still with their respective firms.
Challenger suggested that the remote nature of the work itself makes retention an uphill battle for HR departments. “You can be on Zoom for eight hours, but when it’s all work agenda items, there aren’t those little conversations about family and those personal moments you have,” he said. “People just aren't connected to their companies when it's just the work itself.”
I don’t feel or see any reason to go back into the office. Sure my office space was big and comfy but my sanity and my health are more important, not to mention my house has never been more attended to than ever before.

Honestly the week our offices re-opened somebody tested positive. Its best to just stay home until this pandemic is under control.
rolandsmartin If the company stayed in business, didn't incur more than normal losses and/or made money during covid they should accommodate work from home employees.
Two years working from home. Does your company really need you? Does your job actually produce or services the population? Two years . You must be getting paid for doing nothing. Tax the shit out of those people.
