Rats have been causing issues for neighbours in the street

The managers of a Nottingham student building say they are 'winning the battle' against a rat problem that shut part of a neighbouring business. The operators of student accommodation block on St Marks Street, Nottingham city centre have said they are handling the concerns raised after global firm Purico shut its front entrance on Friday, October 14 due to what it said was a 'severe vermin infestation' outside of the flats.

The building's managers have now said they are "winning the pest control battle", after talks with the council and taking pest control measures. A spokesperson for Uni2 Rent said: "After talks with the council and involving various contractors it looks like we will win this pest control battle. "[On] Friday we attended and instructed pest control who attended the same day. They have laid bait and traps and will attend again to do this another time."

"The bins were cleared on Monday [October 17]. We have met with a member of the council to increase bin collections from twice to three times per week," The spokesperson added.
