Breaking: Former Seven executive arrested over alleged $8 million fraud against company

A former Seven West Media executive is expected to be charged by police on Wednesday over an alleged fraud worth more than $8 million against the Kerry Stokes-controlled media network.

Former Seven West Media executive John Fitzgerald, inset, has been arrested over an alleged $8m fraud against the companyHis arrest comes more than two years after a major investigation was launched by the NSW Financial Crimes Squad into the alleged misappropriation of funds totalling more than $8 million, while he was an employee of the network.

Following extensive investigations, Strike Force Hamment detectives arrested Mr Fitzgerald on Wednesday, taking him to Burwood police station, where he is expected to be charged.In April 2016, Seven West was granted a NSW Supreme Court orderIt was alleged he defrauded the company by creating, approving and paying false invoices to companies he owned and controlled dating back more than 13 years.
