The stock market bounced back today amid reports that the Trump administration is making progress on plans for a massive fiscal stimulus package that could exceed $1 trillion in an effort to reinvigorate the U.S. economy by skleb1234

After a volatile day of trading, the stock market bounced back on Tuesday amid reports that the Trump administration is making progress on plans for a massive fiscal stimulus package that could exceed $1 trillion in an effort to reinvigorate the U.S. economy.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 5.2%, over 1,000 points, on Tuesday, while the S&P 500 gained nearly 6% and the Nasdaq Composite was up 6.2%. The Dow at one point briefly dipped below 20,000 for the first time since February 2017, before rallying later in the day.

Mnuchin is expected to unveil the massive financial stimulus measures, which dwarf those passed by Congress during the 2008 financial crisis in the Senate late on Tuesday. "I think our economy will come back very rapidly if we do this right... our country can be rolling again pretty quickly," TrumpAs of Tuesday, only 15 stocks in the S&P 500—just 3% of the entire benchmark index—are still positive after the coronavirus market sell-offs that have taken place over the last month, according to Bloomberg data. 485 companies are currently in the red during that time period.
