Top healthcare execs are making the unusual decision to avoid giving campaign donations to Trump, and Republican Kevin McCarthy is raking in the cash instead

toward McCarthy's re-election. He did not give to a presidential candidate in 2016 or during this election.

Asked about the trend, Ken Farnaso, deputy press secretary for the Trump campaign, said that in 2016 the president "led a grassroots movement to take on Washington's elitist machine." Execs and PACs are dividing their donations among Democrats and Republicans, despite the vastly different different positions the parties take on healthcare issues.

On healthcare, Trump is siding with Republican state officials on a lawsuit that threatens to throw out the Affordable Care Act, a healthcare law that has the support of the healthcare industry. McCarthy, too, has voted to repeal the law. the president's healthcare policies, including boosting Medicare Advantage plans and approving a record number of lower-cost generic drugs.
