Dennis Ruh will take over as the new boss of Berlin's European Film Market, replacing Matthijs Wouter Knol, who is leaving to join the European Film Academy.
Ruh, currently an executive at film promotion body German Films, will take over his new job on Nov. 1. He will be tasked with overseeing the EFM's first-ever hybrid market, combining a physical event with online screenings and market activities. With Dennis Ruh, we have gained a well-connected industry expert to head the EFM.
The exact plans for EFM 2021 are pandemic-dependent, but Berlin has said it intends to go ahead with the regular physical market in the Martin Gropius Bau Feb. 11-Feb. 18, and add online components to facilitate those who can't, or don't want to travel to Berlin next year. These include online screenings and online access to the EFM's five-day conference program from Feb. 12-16.
