Social media companies like Facebook and YouTube would be devastated and their business models left in shambles if a law called Section 230 is repealed — and Trump and Congress are rushing to do exactly that

for content produced by traditional publishers, vacuuming up advertising revenue from struggling newspapers without facing any of the risks associated with publishing news.

Zuckerberg said in remarks to senators published ahead of his testimony that he thinks lawmakers "should update the law to make sure it's working as intended," but that legal protections for social media companies should stay intact. "Eroding the foundation of Section 230 could collapse how we communicate on the Internet, leaving only a small number of giant and well-funded technology companies," Dorsey said in written testimony ahead of the hearing.

Lol, Trump's going to actually do something useful before his s*** show of a presidency is over? Mind blown.

Ciao ciao Zuckenberg 😡🤬

Diddums, the all need to either commit to zero political interference and censorship with an independent regulatory body that can fine them for algorithmic content manipulation etc, or have their protections removed and be treated like a publisher.

this is terrible news

Facebook needs to be left in shambles
