Labor heavyweights slam Prime Minister Scott Morrison for his “bungled” vaccine rollout and for “ripping away help”, but business leaders have praised the multi-billion-dollar assistance package for NSW.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison was flanked by Premier Gladys Berejiklian and NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet as the trio announced a $5.1 billion package targeted at lockdown-affected businesses and households.

A direct payment to struggling businesses from between $1500 to $10,000 every week will also be made available. Labor quickly went on the attack on Tuesday claiming the estimated $500 million a week business support package could not guarantee that workers “hurting from this lockdown will keep their job”.
