BUTTERWORTH: The Bukit Mertajam market has been ordered to close for the second time in three months after five Covid-19 cases were detected among its traders and workers.

The Seberang Prai City Council ordered the market to close for seven days from Aug 5 to 11, pending their Covid-19 screening.

"The market will be fully sanitised while all traders and workers in the market must undergo the RTK-Ag or the RT-PCR test which will begin on Tuesday ," he said in a statement. “Only traders and workers who show proof of their negative results will be allowed to reopen for business,” he stressed. "Checks conducted by MBSP found a number of traders and visitors have failed to scan the MySejahtera code.
