Minister of Higher Education Science and Technology Blade Nzimande says the government has set aside about R47 billion for the National Students Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

Nzimande says they are also in talks with the financial sector to help needy students with tuition fees in the form of a loan. The minister says it is encouraged by the level of commitment and engagement between management and the Student Representative Councils to resolve all outstanding challenges facing students.

The grant thus far is not dispersed Minister and children in higher institutions are desperate and frustrated....can the system be quick interms of allocations so that we avert the strike route by university students? Someone is sleeping on duty here
