Two father and son duos alongside Colorado's first Black-owned cannabis dispensary make a bid for a Shore town permit to sale.

With plans to operate out of a former Wells Fargo Bank, cannabis isn’t the first thing that comes to mind, but that’s exactly what Donald and Skye Blanks — a father and son duo applying for a legal weed license in Keyport — aim to do.

Both fathers come from the background of a market where cannabis was still illegal. They are now helping their sons — and each other — on the legalized side of the market. As general manager, I hope to make Keyport a beacon for people to come discover this great community to drive more economic energy into this town.Throughout history, Black people have pioneered, but not benefited. Even my father. He invented a lot of things, but he never got credit for them. This time, with people in front of it like Wanda, they made sure that social equity was implemented.I’ve been thinking about that since I was working my first job doing dishes and being a busboy.
