Green Party leader Eamon Ryan has said the energy market is broken and it is impossible to predict what might happen. | More:

He made the comments when asked if householders might face bills as high as €6,000 a year, as the Cabinet has been warned.

However, he added the Government was prepared for all eventualities with speedy and targeted responses. Speaking at his party's think-in in Ennistymon in Co Clare, the Minister for the Environment, Climate, Communications and Transport said the Government will"have to go further" than the €200 energy credit given to householders earlier this year, given energy prices have doubled.Mr Ryan predicted Ireland would receive"billions" when the EU reaches agreement on redistributing excess profits from energy providers, and this would be used to assist householders and businesses.

Take control of what you can control EamonRyan and stop this hands in the air bullshit

He wouldn't know what day of the week he has... Puppet

Its broken cause he fuckin broke it

Difficult to predict the failure of the market system. Market has failed. So we will wait..... until its a total shit storm but we will make no preparations what so ever. No emergency plan announced No contingency plans Let's wait and see sort of plan. CostofLivingCrisis

There’s one possibility but he’s not considering it

So called 'Green' TDs, be it TheGreenParty or ANY other party, fake Independent or RTE staff, need to be RUN out of the Dail and the Media fast! Or there will be hell to pay. Families have seen nothing yet! This climate hoax will be used to strip you of EVERYTHING ClimateHoax

There I an alternative to him saying nothing of substance and being constantly disappointing and there is an alternative to this.

Green Party leader and man in charge of energy supply has no idea what to do about energy supply.

What should happen next - power up the generating stations at Lanesboro & Shannonbridge , cut VAT on energy bills like they’ve done over Europe, facilitate the importation & storage of LPG , plenty they could do if they really wanted to !

DictatorEamon ShaminEamon EamonRyan Eamon Ryan....

Thats something new ? Or the consultants advised the green tea drinkers leader? No drilling in irish waters, no fossil fuel burning !! Buy the coal overseas and the turf and wood , burn it in Ireland a green tea drinkers paradise

Maybe EamonRyan should sing drilling permits so we can bring in our own gas to power plants rather then telling us its all broken. The greenparty_ie are adding the the energy crisis by stopping offshore drilling.

Eamon ryan is broken and is destroying our beautiful country

left to the greens and their masters in the eu including the equally loony greens in europe ,then they really are incapable of getting anything done ,they are hidebound by their ideology ,

As usual Eamon you haven’t got a clue

I certainly know what I would love to happen. And to who. But I just can’t say. Ah well maybe it dreams.

Bunch of freaks

The only ones breaking it are the Greens.

Please it's broken from green stupid taxes.

Fine in most countries. Another manufactured crisis supported by a media that just reads press releases.

Coming from someone who puts his bike on a train and gets driven to a photo opp. What a joke... What annoys me most about greenparty_ie is that they state the obvious & only solution is tax people more. Why not fix an issue without increasing or introducing a new 'Green tax'

He should know….. he broke it!

Absolute 🤡

We have two power stations that can be reopened tomorrow morning. We don't even have to use peat. We can use biomass.

'It's broken'

Socialism wrapped up in Green clothing, yet he poses as some sort of saviour. This is what happens when man made global warming theory isn't challenged by politicians or the media. We are now paying the price

Eamonn Ryan is broken 😂😂

they all look so confused when EamonRyan is is speaking greenparty_ie you may not have a future in politics but by god do you have one hell of a stand-up comedy show 🤣🤣🤣 rtept cblive twip TonightVMTV

What a clown

It’s not fit for purpose and all because of his nonsensical ideology.

They couldn’t fix a puncture 🙄

Minister for energy admits own incompetence Got to admire the honesty.

This what their Think in amounted to. We knew this before they went on their holidays.

The energy market is not broken. The EU sanctions broke the EU supply of essential energy we need to work, eat, farm & heat ourselves or run our hospitais. It is very EASILY fixed by demanding sanctions are lifted NOW!

It's broken on purpose because of market mechanisms in place. All because of your green energy. It's a scam. Another transfer of wealth. Every scumbag industry gets it.

He actually recommended the international energy market needs a collaborative effort to distribute energy fairly and evenly among neighbours as Ireland only has a gas connection from Britain. Sort your life out lad.

The last days of the empire. There are maybe, at best, county council seats awaiting these green TDs after the next election.

the green party are doing a good job are they? ridiculous energy bills and talks of food shortages? all part of the plan obviously....

He's about as useless as a chocolate teapot !

How much are we paying those advisors to have this gobshyte act so thick?

Feb 24....

Resign EamonRyan greenparty_ie

Ah yes the greens

While the prick was asleep

If they hadn't shut the peat fired power stations with no alternatives in place at the behest of Eamon things might have been easier to predict

Yea like he has any idea about the energy market lolololol

He and his acolytes helped to break it

Sure as hell isn't 'broken' for the lads making the billions. PS EamonRyan enough of the passive voice, things aren't just broken... someone/something breaks them.

It was broken when our natural resources were sold off!! They’re reaping billions from our 100+ years of corrupt and inept governments!!

It's broken because his party got into government and shut the power plants

Taxing the bejaysus out us never breaks

The f*^+*•g government is broken they need to go

Just the way you like it

Leaders with no forward planning and little attempt towards any real roadmap.. this is where we are! eamonryan

Ireland doesn't appear on this list. Why Ireland will face energy problems?!

Cap it then, cost on the state level instead of households and businesses, solve the living crisis from higher levels. I understand after all it’s all public founds, but much more effective then hand out cash.

🤡💩🤡💩🤡

Go Green go broke

Sure just charge us more carbon tax. That seems to their excuse for all other energy matters.

Kayaking was class today. Thanks benssurfclinic

Wait. . . Did he not have all the fucking answers the other week?

The energy market is broken, the housing market is broken….it’s almost as if neoliberalism isn’t sustainable and leaders need to lead and put the interests of citizens ahead of the whims of fragile markets

We can predict what will happen ...Countries with LNG storage are busy filling up their gas storage for the winter....We with no storage just the Corrib field depend on our good neighbour the UK this winter for gas...

..... Eamon Ryan losing his seat at the next election might be a good prediction?

Good job he's not in Govt with a bunch of Neoliberals who believe said market will correct itself... Oh wait
