, has been lauded for its inclusion, with fictional family members of different colour, described by Rhimes as “colour-conscious casting” rather than “colour blind.”
After the first season dropped on the streaming platform on Christmas Day 2020, it was watched by 82 million households within a month. : “It became clear that the business model for shows needed to change. “Shows with a more inclusive cast have more viewers and make more money, they get more advertising dollars. We showed it was an economic model that was more profitable.” ’s first season made stars of actors Regs-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor, who shared a series of fulsome sex scenes, and Rhimes added her voice to those saying such scenes should be choreographed by an intimacy director, as was the case onjuggernaut shows no signs of stopping.
she means history needs to be changed to suit agenda. Now British history involves black people in high society apparently.
shondarhimes everyone is talking about bridgerton when I need sarah drew and jesse williams to create a new netflix JaprilSpinOff where everything after montana never happened and we get a fresh start.
No, but why is this so funny?! She uses diversity to get views and yet the two biggest families on the show are completely white!!! She had an amazing chance to explore the Sharma family dynamics in S2 but chose to focus on the other white family instead!
Where’s the rest? The bit where season 2 beat season 1’s viewing numbers and made stars of Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey? Not to mention how Simone has become inspiration for WOC
This is being monitored, deadline, so get your facts straight.
No, this article is not it. This how it turns out when a white person write... Sad
Your article has nothing to do with the diversity of the show - it’s about RJP and sex scenes (interesting how everyone glossed over THAT scene) and nothing on Simone Ashley
JanayKinney I disagree with her take though about why this was popular. I am all for diversity, have enjoyed both seasons of Bridgerton. I watch it though for the storytelling and cast. If it was just about diversity, I would have enjoyed The Gilded Age. Bridgerton is just good
literally she just talking about her favorites 🤣
Hmmm, I had to go back and double-check on the article date because there was NO mention of S2. I thought it had been written in 2021. S2's leads' casting was the most diverse of the 3 seasons so far. You could've bothered with at least one sentence about them.
Oh boy. This is not going to go over well lol
It's rich coming from a production which systematically ignored the show's most diverse casting in S2, that of a brown woman and a gay man in all the promos. Your own article pretends S2 doesn't exist. Why bother with these performative diversity speeches?
she prioritize her yt characters and sidelined her lead who's a woc only to now use her, after she got so much hype, to prop up shonda's favorite yt characters and actors. it's all fake and performative just to get views and make her look good snd for the show to look 'diverse'
Had zero interest in the 2nd season, as for me it was all about Daphne&Simon. This show will suffer the usual decay of Netflix, and die a slow death. I'd say viewership was fueled by the clutching of pearls rather than diversity.
But she neglects to mention season 2 lead who is a WOC and gave them their most watched season 🤦🏼♀️ She continues to sideline Simone so she can zip it with her diversity lecture 🤷🏼♀️
