UK police arrested and detained three journalists covering a climate protest earlier this week, raising concerns that the country’s press freedoms are under threat

. Police officers in Hertfordshire, a county in southern England, arrested LBC radio reporter Charlotte Lynch on Tuesday on a bridge over a public highway near London as she covered nearby protests by climate group Just Stop Oil. In an interview with LBC on Thursday, Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner David Lloyd admitted that police “got it wrong” for arresting Lynch, adding that arresting journalists “doesn’t sound right.

Bowles said in a Tuesday tweet that three police officers arrived at his house at 11 p.m. on Monday, waking up his wife and daughter, and searched his home. He told TalkTV that he was taking legal action against the police. Hertfordshire Police said in a statement Wednesday that its priority was to “ensure public safety as well as the safety of officers and protesters,” adding that its officers were faced with “very challenging circumstances” in trying to clear protesters from roads.

Terrorist Climate protestors probably use fake id or claim they are presss. So the police couldn't be sure the reporter & camera crew weren't part of a terrorist cell!

BeauJest Press freedom isn't under threat, that's just hysterical. During a dangerous protest above a major motorway, police removed a number of people, who were later released without charge. They have agreed to review procedures for how they approach people identifying as press.

More journalists should try being held in a cell. Then maybe they would understand the travesty of justice Assange has lived under forever. He did his job while journalists in Washington happily endorsed and peddled forever wars.

That's right, the UK not Libya, not Russia, not China. F**ing UK. What has happened to this country and how have people been led down the path to think this is anyway normal or OK!

really, CNN? This is of concern to you

Journalists have had it too easy as of late. They sound like spoiled brats. Can't even stand being in jail for a day...

Being journalist does not make one above the law, lf journalist fall foul of the law he should be dealt with. The fact that you control a media space does not give you license to misbehave.

UKs freedom of the press is no more , just ask Julian Assange

AD WAHAHA FLY THROUGH EN SKY?

Hahaha migrants gonna make this island a third world country just like their own. Zero multiplied by anything is zero. God bless the UK!

Police told by the government to be stricter with Just Stop Oil protesters and end up arresting the journalists covering the protests instead. It's no wonder people think the police are useless.

Pot calling the kettle black ! Just one of many western countries that pick on others for trampling on human rights …
