The rate of returns at U.S. retailers more than doubled last year from 2019. What are the best ways for companies to deal with this flood

For many companies, few topics are more unpleasant to think about than product returns. And few topics are more crucial to the bottom line.

To understand why, consider this: From 2019 to last year, the rate of returns in the U.S. more than doubled to some 16.6% of retail sales—meaning were returned in 2021, according to the National Retail Federation and Appriss Retail. At the same time, returns are becoming more costly, with shipping and labor costs rising.

This returns are what happens when physical stores reduce inventory and people have to order multiple items to comparison shop. This is a feature, not a bug.

It’s mainly people wearing their clothes out to party and returning them a few days later.

Stop selling cheap Chinese shit.

How is 2019 relevent?

Do not tell me to call 1-800-Journal… no one there is capable of helping me , or locating my subscription

Request better quality control in their foreign facilities? Reducing waste? Go a little Greener…Most products are shipped in bulk with little quality control, it being cheaper to just replace the broken!

They can stop charging obscene prices for cut rate products. This is people not willing to put up with sub par quality for increasing prices.
