Opinion: The public is repeatedly insulted and kept in the dark by our federal and provincial leaders and our captains of industry.

Do you ever feel you are being treated like a sap by our political and business leaders?

What does it mean when someone is seen as a sap? Well, according to the Cambridge English Dictionary, a sap is “a stupid person who can easily be tricked or persuaded to do something.”First, after weeks of downplaying the issue of possible Chinese interference in our elections, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau finally appoints a “special rapporteur” who won’t even have the powers of a commission of inquiry. Meanwhile, the RCMP is investigating leaks about foreign interference.

Fourth, Ontario Premier Doug Ford says there was nothing wrong with developers and lobbyists paying to attend a stag-and-doe pre-wedding party that he hosted for his daughter. Some of the attendees stand to benefit from Ford’s move to open up parts of the Greenbelt to build housing. Everything was above board, he insists. Nothing to see here, folks. Keep moving!

It's not the fact they do it, it's been that way since Rome existed. It's the fact certain members of our society welcome the ability to be kept in the dark. The head in the sand mentality in Canada is incredibly pervasive.

politicians do as they please once they get into power. there's no one to stop them.

Because they can

SecretSuzanne Pierre will change things for the better. JT knows his days are numbered.

Strategy: When your boy is sinking like a stone, start shouting they’re all the same!

Because they know we will still vote for them and buy their stuff. As long as they prêtend to have our best Interests in mind. We're not that clever. PT Barnum was right.

Don't forget the 'captains of public health'

You forgot yourself and the rest of the MSM.

A precedent has been set at the top of the food chain

Well leftist rags like yours seem to be promoting the centralization of power under socialized model everyday! How transparent do you think they’re going to be?….

My sense is that Canadians both on the left and the right of the political spectrum would agree with this take. There is a remarkable lack of transparency, hubris and in some cases blatant corruption within our political elites and the corporations that unduly influence them.

Toronto star also does the same lol. You pushed their foolishness to the public.

The government along with ford nation has systematically killed anything Canadian and stripped to the bare bone.

Time to start 🗡 some of them. Give the rest something to think about.

We have shown time and time again we can't handle the truth. Our leaders are not leaders. 99.9% are managers. They defer to consultants to package what to say and defer to scientists when making public health decisions, as a glaring example. We lived through that for almost…

We elect them and buy from them. We put them there.

They work for us.

Because papers like yours protect them

A lack of journalists asking tough questions and holding them to account.

PR firms and ‘strategy’ firms. That and Karl Rove and Kelly Anne

Shouldn’t it have been a photo of Trudeau & Ford?

Because we don't riot in the streets like France. To be clear, I think we should, maybe just not as often.

Because of the garbage FPTP voting system.

Because we keep letting them
