One of San Antonio's most distinctive homes, a coliseum-style mansion built into a hillside overlooking Olmos Basin, is still on the market after seven months and an $800,000 price cut, real estate listings show.

The home — owned by former attorney Christopher “Chris” Pettit — hit the market last December with a price tag just shy of $4 million. Since then, the asking price has been cut to $3.2 million.

Pettit was accused of stealing millions from his clients, and late last year a federal grand jury indicted him on five counts of wire fraud and three counts of money laundering. Earlier this month, he agreed to a plea deal in an effort to avoid trial. Details of that deal are still unclear, according to media reports.

Whatever anyone thinks of Pettit, his former residence is a showstopper. The 5,800-square-foot dwelling features four separate wraparound balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows. It was designed by Tom Pressley and built by San Antonio construction giant Bartlett-Cocke in 1986, according to a sales listing.

Beyond Pettit, the property's had other notable inhabitants, including the late philanthropist Joci Straus, its original occupant, and former San Antonio Spur Brent Barry, who once leased it from Pettit.
