Eighty-two per cent of tourists to WA want an Aboriginal cultural experience when they visit, but only 26 per cent get what they want.

Doc Reynolds is the chair of the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council , the body charged by the State Government with growing the sector to meet the needs of the nearly 60 per cent of interested tourists who are missing out."So someone in downtown Germany or London, they are able to get onto the internet and book their tickets because we have created a link to an authentic Aboriginal experience in the particular area that they want to go.

"Aboriginal people are often seen as recipients of the community. We want to make them an integral part of the community so that they are out there showcasing a culture that no-one else can," he said.
