Johannesburg residents are not adhering to lockdown regulations: Mayor

Geoff Makhubo says majority of COVID-19 cases in Gauteng are in Johannesburg.

Makhubo together with the Johannesburg Metro Police were at a roadblock near Diepsloot conducting lockdown roadblocks. “We have to self-quarantine. We have to self isolate. Of course, there areas difficult areas like informal settlements. There are difficult areas like defomalising areas like Diepsloot down but we have to enforce the law, we have no choice.”

“There are too many cars on the road, to many people on the road. We think one is just producing a permit to an essential service in Kriel in Mpumalanga and he is here this is an abuse of permits.”

Soweto is the worst. Sadly, not once have I seen a police or a soldier in any of the soweto areas. Kwezi, Chiawelo, Dobsonville, Naledi, Protea... as a healthcare I want to cry every time I see pple on the streets. It’s normal here.

They will die just tell them straight gore if they don't stay at home they will die

Most of them claim to be out hustling to put food on the table especially in the poverty stricken areas.

They will die

Can the Soldiers help us here! Please otherwise the lockdown will serve no purpose!

but does not mean a person must die, its evil and undermining human rights, treat everyone equal, he must not say Johannesburg people thats generic, otherwise we wont deal with the exact problem, we all stressed with this virus kaloku yhini

Let me guess.. they also just getting a warning like all those taxi's?

'Some could not explain why they are on the road. He says Johannesburg is the epicentre of the virus in Gauteng' 😩😳 Bathong ba Gauteng can we stay home. You can only go out when you wanna do grocery and others. We have to work together hle😭😭😭
