Zwelinzima Vavi has been re-elected as General Secretary of the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) at its second national congress in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg in the early hours of Thursday morning.

After two days of disagreements over allowing the four suspended National Office Bearers to contest elections, the elections were only concluded last night with the outcomes made just before 2am.

The four were President Mac Chavalala who ultimately lost to NUMSA President Ruth Ntlokotse, others included Second Deputy President Thabo Matsose, Deputy General-Secretary Phakedi Moleko and National Treasurer Motshwari Lecogo.

Why would you have 2 candidates from same union contesting for President all unions know who is going to be deployed in what position to contest... I'm happy with the return of Vavi hopefully he will show leadership & take pension when he reach 60 & let deputy take GS lead

how old is vavi Kante? for how long does he want to work?

Why do all these parties relect the same leaders? Is there no faith in.the next generation?
