ANC NEC should have focused more on economic disparities, says Black Business Council

The ANC national executive committee should have dedicated more time to addressing the continued economic disparity, growing unemployment, poverty and inequality during deliberations.

According to a statement released by ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe on Monday, the NEC meeting was part of its final regular session before the party’s national conference scheduled to be held from December 16 to 20 in Gauteng.

“The BBC is still of the view that leaving the responsibility of ensuring that public procurement encompasses B-BBEE to the organs of state with no guiding framework to ensure uniformity as can be seen in the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act, 2000 : Preferential Procurement Regulations 2022 published in the Government Gazette of November 4 2022 is contrary to the governing party’s commitment on economic transformation.

Monage added they also expected the ANC NEC to address the electricity blackouts that were continuing to engulf the country. He said the ANC NEC statement was silent on such an important matter. He said they were of the view that Godongwana was passing the buck by leaving everything to the organs of state to determine their own transformation targets with the new procurement regulations.
