The transformative social change needed to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius isn’t happening fast enough, experts say in a new report.

Keeping global warming within 1.5 degrees Celsius is “currently not plausible,” warns a new report from the University of Hamburg. The types of swift, transformative social change needed to reach that target just aren’t happening fast enough.

But studies consistently find that global climate action isn’t happening fast enough to keep up with those requirements. The U.N.’s latest annual emissions gap report, which assesses global progress on the Paris targets, found that the climate policies currently in place around the world aren’t even enough to meet the 2 C target, let alone 1.5 C.

Social change has been further complicated by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the report adds. Permafrost, for instance, is a common point of concern among climate scientists. As the Earth warms and frozen soil in the planet’s coldest places begin to thaw, it can release large volumes of climate-warming carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere. These emissions could, theoretically, further speed the rate of global warming.

To confront climate change, we need to build a mass protest movement of workers, students, trade unions & Indigenous people in leading roles. The oil industry's greed can't be legislated away, but we have the numbers to cut across their power if we are organized.

Tonga changed everything!!

Which kind of maths did you use to work that out ?

'Experts' = CHINESE DNC ACTIVISTS

Perhaps a scorched earth policy isn't best. We should slowly transition to renewables, rather than punishing the poor by parading out electric vehicle options they can't afford and charging more for gas.

Therefore I suppose we in the West need more powerful, autocratic governments to impose these climate-saving measures. Like what the WEF admires and wishes we would emulate, right?

Who could be responsible?

How much ozone depleting gas is in a rocket motor? ANY rocket motor… time for some maths

Greed wins!

Why do you oppose all of the myriad of benefits to the earth returning to its more typical warmer climate? Do you hate biodiversity that much?

This is just a massive fraud by the elites trying to control social behaviour.

The Pentagon is the number one polluter in the world. Get your petition on, I'll sign it.

*'Experts' have been predicting the imminent climate doom of the planet for at least 50 years.

1.5° and even 2° is very unlikely. We will need to plan for 2.5° if their models play out as expected. Still not convinced this is bad though.. Keeping the interglacial going should be a priority, not having us borderline Ice age seems far more helpful to the planet as a whole.
