Parents invest so much of themselves, emotionally and financially, in raising their children — but the time comes when a parent has to stop subsidizing their adult children’s everyday expenses. Think housing, health insurance, car payments, cell phones, credit cards, subscription services, student loans and travel. And, as it turns out, kids and parents don’t agree on just when exactly that time should be.

Thirty-one percent characterized that sacrifice as “significant,” while 37% said it was “somewhat significant.” Sacrifice meant: Reducing their emergency savings , impairing their ability to pay off their own debt or save for retirement ; and making it hard to reach some other financial milestone . Low-income parents — defined as those making $50,000 or less a year — were most likely to say they have made financial sacrifices to help their adult children.

Or maybe its give them joy in other way

Witnessing the birth of a child or the death of a loved one, and feeling a deep sense of awe and reverence for the mystery of life

Why do you care, you want to deny the rights of parents to know if their children want to 'transition' 🙄

As long as the offspring NEED (not want) it, and it's fiscally possible for the parents.

If you're subsidizing your adult child's everyday expenses you have passed that time already.

I say help them till they finish schooling - whether college or trade school. Once they have the education and skills to get a good career type job - not minimum wage - they should be more successful at supporting themselves and not need you.

I'll say it's a beautiful thing to become a financially independent adult, however when it comes to insurance and the like young people face horrible prices when getting it on their own, pushing people to share plans. There's a brokenness to the system for us.

If you haven’t taught your children to support themselves after they finish school you’re a failure as a parent

The day my parents said I’m gonna have to start paying rent was the same day I started looking for places to live. Although I was mad when they said it, it’s the best thing they could’ve done. I wouldn’t be where I am today and sometimes we need that push (I was 24)

as a millenial i feel attacked

19 unless in Uni and I would expect them to work summers. Lived on my own 3 months after I turned 18. Hard but survived. My girls worked hard for scholarships, worked weekends, summers and paid for their post secondary. Scrimped and paid student loans in 3 yrs.and paid their way.

Parents quickly agreed universally that at their kids should get their smart phone by the time they turn 12 and enter middle school; not sure why this other big decision (cutting your grown up adult children financially off) is so hard to agree on?

It's cultural.

“Gen z says they shouldn’t have to start paying for housing until they’re 23”🤣🤣🤣🤣 we are doomed gang.

Never. I couldn’t wait to get away from my house and be my own man. I left at 18. Make it miserable for kids so they do the same. A comfort zone of mommy’s love and soft landings will ensure your kids will have no ability to deal with life’s harsh realities.

I sure won't be taking advice from CNN on this

GOP Boomers can blame themselves for voting for the GOP who gave $2T handout to millionaires that let them buy up all the houses, hoard money and make it near impossible for future generations to ever own a house let alone have a living wage. This is the result of those actions

All the lil libs still in mommy’s basement are not gonna like this 😂

Most parents aren't even present in their kids lives today

So you can't have job security or a living wage or the opportunities previous generations had or a social safety net, but don't you dare reach out to family for help either, right? And don't be homeless either, or police will destroy your remaining possessions. What's left?

If you start raising kids early, it takes an average of 25-30 years for the children to finally leave the nest, that is age 60-65 for most parents. Preparing for life when they leave is as important as raising them.

France's President Macron believes the EU must avoid being dragged into confrontations such as with China, on behalf of the US. Pressures and threats from Washington have made the EU go along with sanctioning disobedient countries, and caused great harm to their own economies.

How long to support your ADULT CHILDREN. No such thing. They are adults at age 18 and they GTFO. Military, trade school, work, but GTFO. I have one kid thank me for doing it.

At least one month.

Quite the assumption. Most humanity problems stem from crummy parenting.

Just how far into their offspring's adulthood is this dawning on parents?

A parents responsibility is always to help their child whenever and however they can. Likewise the responsibility of an adult child is to support their elderly parents whenever and however they can

It has been more than 4 months that daily chemical attacks by IRGCterrorists on girls' and boys' schools have been going on. Yesterday, with the death of KaroPashabadi, the number of students killed has reached 6. IranianSchoolHolocaust

The latest on hybrid work: Who is WFH and who isn't | CNN BusinessAs the economy slows, are employers starting to regain the upper hand in negotiations with employees and job seekers? Pay is always an issue, of course, but in the wake of the pandemic, so too is how much time employers want people to work on site versus how much they are willing to let employees work remotely. Only certain jobs allow for remote operations. Even those that do, it will take quite some time to rid the world of employers who can’t adapt to not staring over their subordinates’ shoulders. WFH 3 years and counting. No more driving 2 1/2 hours 5 days a week. That extra 12 hours I spend mostly doing more work for my company. But also have the flexibility to do things at home. Twitter brands BBC a 'government funded media' organization | CNN BusinessThe BBC is seeking a swift resolution after Twitter branded it as 'government funded media.' It is true BBC is British funded media organisations BBC = Bought By Conservatives Is it not? Funded by the British public through the licence fee... The fee is set by the British Government, agreed by Parliament. This means nothing, it's just a stunt from Musk on these 'independent' media outlets. Of course only the non-western media is state-affiliated.
