Warning

SAWS has issued a yellow level two warning.

The South African Weather Services has issued a yellow level two warning for severe thunderstorms expected to hit parts of the country today.

Forecaster Luthando Masimini says isolated thunderstorms will impact the central and eastern regions, including Gauteng, North West, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Eastern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal. Masimini says these storms may bring strong damaging winds, heavy downpours and small hail in some areas. “For tomorrow, we are expecting isolated to scattered showers and thunder showers over the central land, south eastern parts with the affected areas including the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, North West province, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Kwazulu-Natal, Eastern Cape as well as the Free State where widespread thunderstorms are likely. These conditions are likely to result in the flooding of roads settlements in the low lying areas resulting in some closing of bridges and roads.
