Delta CEO: Passengers should ask permission before reclining their seats on planes

that passengers should ask before they recline their seat.

Delta has been testing reduced-recline seats on some of its narrow-body aircraft in part to prevent potential arguments over seat recline. The CEO of the second-largest airline in the world says passengers should ask permission when they recline their seat.he believes that passengers on planes should make sure it's alright with the passenger behind you before reclining.

Bastian, however, believes that passengers do have a right to use the now-controversial seat feature, though discretion should be used. The Delta CEO also says he never reclines his seat or objects to when someone else does it to him, despite his height, citing his status as the head of the airline.

Just tell Ed to spare me the sermon in the safety video

Screw that. Everyone knows the damn seats recline. Everyone knows the last one doesn’t. If you don’t want someone reclining when you can’t then pick another seat or deal. Grow the hell up.

No Delta CEO. That's not how reclined airline seat etiquette works. When was the last time you flew coach?

Nope.

Coming from someone that flies first class..... 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Delta

Then install seats that limit the recline. Do I get your CEO pay now?

Somebody hasn’t flown commercial in awhile.....

At least check if the person behind is eating or has a laptop out. I’ve had someone recline during mealtime and i ended up with hot tea all over me. Simple manners and respect.

When's the last time he's flown economy?

Yeah! F being polite. Politeness obviously has no place in America. Keep America hateful like it's always been.

You first, buddy.

Please stop it already

Very simple. Make the seats big enough so you don’t have to recline in the first place. I’ve been flying weekly for 26 yrs. The seats are smaller than ever and it’s as uncomfortable as ever.

until airlines disable the seat recline mechanism in economy class, they should include this guidance (about asking for permission before reclining one's seat) in the standard pre-flight announcements.

He could stop shrinking seating space, or barring that, just buy seats that don’t recline, and let people choose if they want to fly Delta. Just don’t make people miserable and then ask them to fix the problem the airlines cause.

It’s called POLITENESS... I heard about some people who want to ban reclinable seats. What’s wrong with you?! On a 2 plus hours flight a comfy position should be granted by every company.

Fight among yourselves. LetThemEatCake

His idea of passenger etiquette is awful, profit-driven. Sure, wouldnt he love it if no one one reclines their seat? The current spacing is already borderline criminal. But it's not gonna stop them from trying to fit in more seats, is it? Way to blame it on the passengers.

Maybe airlines like Delta should be asking permission from passengers before creating painful, totally unergonomic, ever shrinking seats in the first place. yougottabekidding CEOchutzpah thisiswhywehateairlines

Screw you Delta

Come again!?

How about you remove a row or two and let people fly like normal fucking people.

Ha! “Permission “? GTFOH!

Controversy may lead airlines to request plane builders to make seats non-reclinable 🤔🙉

In other words, “people in the cheaper seats, ask permission before reclining your seats. And the rest of you, do it own ways your seat will never bother other people ;)”

Disagree. If the seat offers the feature to recline, you have the absolute right to use it. Of course you should do it slowly and be respectful of extenuating circumstances (babies, tall people, etc).

Absolutely not, if a customer is paying for a coach seat, one of the features of that coach seat is reclinability. That is known upfront. Therefore, no one has a reasonable right to complain when someone in front of them reclines in coach - buy first class, problem solved

OR.... and hear me out.... put some space behind that last row so they can recline too. Even better, put some more space behind every row. Or, worse but still fair, don’t allow any of the seats to recline so they’re all like that back row no one wants to sit in.

This is a prime example of the disconnect between customers and company employees.

Then remove the damn seats... Do we permission to turn the lights on? Open the a/c vents? That’s so stupid

what could possibly go wrong

Obviously the pax would say no🙆‍♂️🤪 S😡rry I’m jam packed. 😏 Had all the aircrafts had decent leg room, we can avoid such formalities. Aviation ✈️💺 🦵 🦵

Excuse me, my support Goat would like to recline his seat. Do you mind?

Why though? I didnt buy a plane ticket to serve everyone else that's your staff's job. How about either a) take out the reclining seats or b) imma use them whenever I feel like ;)
