Breaking: The CEO of one of biggest U.S. chicken producers and three others were indicted for alleged price fixing on chickens sold to restaurants and grocery stores

The CEO of one of the country’s biggest chicken producers and three other industry executives were indicted Wednesday for allegedly conspiring to fix prices on chickens sold to restaurants and grocery stores, the Justice Department’s first charges in a continuing criminal antitrust probe.

The one-count indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in Colorado, allege current and former senior executives at Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. and Claxton Poultry Farms fixed prices and rigged bids from 2012 to 2017.

A real chicken coup

Um, ok, but let’s not forget who the real victims are: the sentient beings who are brutally slaughtered for their flesh as well as the slaughterhouse workers.

Did the police stage a no-knock raid on the CEO’s home? Did they choke the life out of him while he was handcuffed on the ground? Was he pepper-sprayed and tear-gassed?

lookner Are thoes ceos companies being taken over by the government? Why would they price gouge at that risk they have advisory lawyers..

Not surprised. Corruption, criminality is in every walk of life these days in America.

JimmyVielkind Maybe they were just trying to stay afloat. Gov't tells the company how much they have to pay their workers. Gov't raises taxes w/o being indicted. During the pandemic the co. was probably paying a lot of O/T. I can't wait til gov't gets into the chicken business.

It's very strange to me that we have laws that declare that private business contracts can be declared illegal of non-involved 3rd parties don't like the price...
