The van life may be cheaper than you think. 3 couples share how much they spend a month to live out on the open road. (by melodywarnick)

Before they started van life-ing in December 2019, Alexandra Napoli and Frankie McCullough lived in one of the world's priciest places: New York City.

Originally, McCullough, a former HVAC technician, was trying to set a world record for snowboarding the most mountains in a single season . COVID-19 put a stop to that, but not before they'd spent around $675 a month buying diesel fuel and $250 a month on maintenance from all the aggressive driving. Before the trip, McCullough and Napoli, a former executive assistant, saved up $25,000; now most of their income comes from. So they're religious about tracking expenses, including a shared $120 T-Mobile cell phone plan that they supplement by dropping about $60 a month at coffee shops for the free WiFi. An additional $340 a month goes toward health insurance and $630 a month for groceries and restaurants.
