New data has revealed the average weekly earnings for Australians, along with the highest and lowest paid industries and the areas of the nation taking home the most.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics on Thursday released data which showed seasonally adjusted average weekly earnings were up 1.9 per cent - or $33 - in the 12 months to May.

Offer ends 31 October, 2022 "May also follows a period of reasonably strong growth in employment for women and for younger workers, who have tended to have lower average full-time earnings." Workers in the information media and telecommunications industry were the next best paid at $2,236, followed by financial and insurance services and professional, scientific and technical services .

Treasurer Jim Chalmers on Wednesday said wages growth will be a key focus of next month's jobs and skills summit, which is designed at bringing business, unions and industry together.
