A Lytham St Annes man was handed a six year ban from running companies after failing to explain how he’d used tens of thousands of pounds of public money.
Over the next week, around £40,000 of that money was paid to third parties. Weeks later, the company claimed a £25,000 local authority grant but again the vast majority was paid out to a third party over the course of a fortnight.The company, whose records say it was involved in civil engineering, timber sales and real estate letting, had avoided being struck off weeks before the first national lockdown began and weeks before Matthews became sole director and shareholder.
