Her departure bookends a tumultuous four months for the NSW government which began when John Barilaro was appointed to a plum US trade role

from her role as Investment NSW boss, citing a need to devote her time fully to her other role as department secretary.“After close to a decade working for the NSW government, my tenure has come to an end – this is my last day in this role,” she wrote in a lengthy LinkedIn statement which reflected warmly on her time in the public service and her colleagues.“As the CEO and Department Secretary, I have learned that leadership can, at times, be difficult,” she said.

Ms Brown appeared three times before an upper house probe into Mr Barilaro’s appointment, as the NSW opposition and crossbench attempted to gauge whether the NSW government, or former trade minister Stuart Ayres, had influenced the appointment.
