Databricks employees are only asked to show up at the company's San Francisco office once a week, but the company says it is committed to its real estate footprint.cloud-based data analytics company — one of the fastest growing Bay Area startups pre-pandemic —A Databricks spokesperson confirmed the renewal on Friday, but would not discuss the terms of its lease with landlord Tishman Speyer or disclose how much space the company occupies at the SoMa building.
"We're excited to signal our commitment to San Francisco and the Bay Area more broadly combined with our Silicon Valley office in Mountain View," said Amy Reichanadter, the company's chief people officer."The expansion will continue our focus on developing flexible working environments where we can create great customer engagement and strong teamwork."
Originally founded in Berkeley, Databricks relocated its headquarters to San Francisco in 2015. The startup was valued at $38 billion in 2021. The renewal represents a small gain for San Francisco, where office vacancy has risen to close to 25% in recent months.
